Self Care

Remote working has been great for some of us and not at all for others.  Dealing with jobs that never turn off, helping children with remote education while also practising all sorts of new behaviours to stay safe and follow precautions when outside home with little social  connection with our support system has had a toll on many of us. While waiting patiently or otherwise for life to return to normal, here are ways and tips to win back time for your self care.

1. Time on Social Media

A very common message, but it can’t be stressed enough. We may seem like we have it under control, and say, “I only open Instagram for a few minutes.” The truth is, time really stacks up and causes us to lose our focus. Without getting  rid of this indulgence completely,  we can  reduce time spent on social media by: (DDR)

  • Deleting social media apps from your mobile phone. Being forced to type in the web browser may cause one to be more conscious of how much time one is freely giving up using social media.

  • Disabling notifications on the phone and emails. Simply taking away the temptation to jump on.

  • Removing social media sites from bookmarks. Making social media less accessible.

You can add up the time you  saved for you to really look after yourself while you can focus and do more in a given time and additionally you are not a slave to others representation of what life should be and you no longer compare yourself with others.

2. Time with Technology

  • Getting back time through to-do apps to help you get organized to order groceries, complete banking tneeds to deposit, transfer money, pay bills and even invest in just minutes.

3. Extra time

Indulge in Self Care simply because it is good for your overall mental health. If we feel less overwhelmed by the things we must do, then we can make more time for the things we want to do. Self-care is having the  20 minutes back to read a book, sit in silence, or take  your time  to shower and get ready for the day. Whatever you choose as your self-care, you need to work on prioritizing it, most importantly. Starting  small to transition to making more time for you is a great way to begin to better self care in 2022.
